Things to do on a rainy day (that don’t involve Netflix)

Rainy days are nothing new for Ireland. But that doesn’t mean we have to spend them the same old ways. Don’t rot on the couch and end the day feeling like you’ve wasted time. Get on up and try out some rainy day activities.

1. Turn your living room into the classroom

If you have kids, you know the toughest thing about the rainy days is getting the energy out! Online classes bring the business to you; try out online fitness, writing, or performance classes and make the living room anything from the gym to the stage.

2. Go to the actual gym!

While outdoor exercise is a favourite, the local gym could have just what you need. Classes, one on one training or just a solo session will make the most of the day.

3. Visit the Community Centre

Visit your closest hub; join a class, help out running amenities, or simply have a cup of tea with a few others aiming to get out.

4. Get inspired!

If the rain makes you feel a little whimsical and creative, art galleries might be the key. Explore your local art scene and feel the inspiration with the perfect soundtrack.

5. Bring back the lockdown favourite

Is there a recipe you’ve been dying to try? What better time! Grab the apron, crank up the tunes, and turn yourself into Gordon Ramsay. Or Jamie Oliver if you’re feeling calmer (and not making chicken nuggets).
